May 7th Mieke Janssen-Matthes passed away.<\/div>\n

Mieke was one of the creators and founders of SIETAR Europa and the first President of SIETAR Europa. Mieke was the tireless lead administrator of SIETAR Europa during its first formative years in Haarlem, NL. At the same time, she was Executive Vice President of SIETAR International and for a long time member of the Governing Council of SIETAR International.
A true pillar of the organization.\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n

She was an inspiration for many Sietarians and other people working in the intercultural field. She was an inspiring and respected lecturer and coach for many children living in Otherland\u2019. Author of the \u2018Anderland\u2019 books for children and adults in Dutch, and the English editions:\u00a0\u2018Off to Otherland:\u00a0A read-and-do book for children going to live abroad\u2019<\/i>, 1998, 2002, 2007 and\u00a0\u2018Unlocking the secret of Otherland: A story and activity book for children living abroad\u2019<\/i>. Amsterdam 2006.<\/div>\n

Mieke was an honorary member of SIETAR Europa and an honorary member of SIETAR Nl. She received the SIETAR International Senior Interculturalist Award and she was also the well-deserved recipient of the SIETAR Europa Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.<\/div>\n

SIETAR Europa is indebted to Mieke\u2019s unfaltering wisdom, energy, and dedication.<\/b>

Op 7 mei jl. is Mieke Janssen-Matthes overleden. Mieke is \u00e9\u00e9n van de initiatiefnemers en oprichters van SIETAR Europa en was de eerste President van SIETAR Europa. Mieke was de onvermoeibare,\u00a0drijvende kracht\u00a0van SIETAR EUROPA gedurende de beginjaren in Haarlem. Zij was tevens de\u00a0Executive Vice President van SIETAR International en is lange tijd lid geweest van de Governing Council of SIETAR International.
Een echte steunpilaar binnen de organisatie.<\/b><\/div>\n

Ze was een inspiratiebron voor veel Sietarians en anderen, die werkzaam zijn in het interculturele werkveld. Ze was een inspirerend, gewaardeerd docente en coach voor veel kinderen, die leven in \u2018Anderland\u2019. Auteur van\u00a0\u2018Het geheim van Anderland. Mieke was erelid van SIETAR Europa en van Sietar Nederland. Zij ontving de SIETAR International Senior Interculturalist Award en in 2005 de eveneens welverdiende SIETAR Europa Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/div>\n
SIETAR Europa is schatplichtig aan Mieke, met haar wijsheid, energie en toewijding.<\/b><\/div>\n
